i have his cage in the lounge room.is this a bad idea,i would like to look at him as often as i can.
How long does it take for them to settle in,i got the impression that they were pigs that love food.
I know i am being paranoid but! he is amazing to watch. |

Age/Gender: 24 | | | | since he is in a high traffic area he could be a little stressed if he is not used to it.... try placing a towel over his enclosure so he cant see what is going on around him to ease his mind!
even try placing the towel over 2/3rds of the enclosure to give him the option to hide or see out.?

Gender: | | | | post some pics of your enclosure, if it's glass it's not ideal unless you live in the northern half of oz. My spencers cold end is 30 - 38 deg. first year on live insects, then rodents. I'd rate Spencers as one of the most heat absorbing reptiles in Oz.

As I have no idea abut any monitors locations (except Lacies 'cause they drink from my pool) - does it really get to 60 degrees in their home range?
If so - how high is the hotspot in a Lacie's enclosure?
(Sorry to hijack mate) |

His temp are up high just like yours.
I have noticed he spends most of his time in 35c heat never spends time in hot parts of the cage.
I don't have a pic,lent out the camera.

Lacies need nothing like that, but can handle a wide range of temps as they have a much larger distribution than Spencers.
