|  | Regular Member | Join Date: Jun-07 Location: Brisbane QLD Gender:  | | | Hey all, i am woring a bit about my spotted pythom he is well over a yr old not sure bout if its male or female, i am woried becuase i have been reading some threads that have said about if they are sheding in bits that the mite have mites. and mine has bits of old scales on him and he has not eaten for about a month now and goin to try again tonight his temp in his hot in his cage is around 30 digrees during the day not sure bout night , i ahve soced him in warm water to try n get those loose scales of but im not sure it is workin.
Wat should i do.

If it is just a few individual scales then i would leave them for now and let them come off with the next shed. Just make sure that next time it sheds you raise the humidity a bit, or turn the heating down.
30'C during the day is fine.
If it does have mites then you may see them walking over the snake or hidden under the scales, hidden in the fold of skin that runs from the chin down, or in the loose skin that surrounds the eyes. Tiny white specks on the snakes scales may also be seen, white are mite droppings.

You can wash the snake in tepid water or wipe it over with vegetable oil, although some people do spray the snake i wouldn't.Jmo
