Hi guys/gals,
I just recieved my reptile license today and in the coming weeks will be looking at purchasing a snake(possibly from another state).
What are the steps that need to be taken to freight/import(?) a snake from another state? or even my own state(NSW) for that matter?
Thanks |

you print it off, fill it out, and mail it to the address written in the document. After a short time, your import/export license will be delivered to you. It's essentially the same as applying for a reptile license.

ok thanks guys.
all looks pretty straight forward.
Does this have to happen everytime you want to export/import a reptile? including the fee?
or is the second time around much easier?
Thanks

the licence lasts for about 1 month

You have to get a new import/export licence each time you freight a reptile, you then have a month to import your reptile from the issue date

hmm,
I have another little question on the same topic.
Basiclly, i live about 20mins south of the QLD border, the closest major airport(being Coolangatta) is just over the border....
So... how would i do this...
Would i need an export license to get it to qld and then another to drive it over the border to nsw...?
Thanks

Mmmmmmmm, I think that needs to be answered by Parks and Wildlife as we were nearly faced with the same problem. We were freighting within NSW but told that the closest airport was Canberra, which is under different State/Territory rules to NSW. We didnt follow it up but would be worthwhie doing I think.
