I have to run a 45 min lesson on reptiles for kids ranging from ages 4 - 10. I will be taking in my Childrens Python for a bit of show and tell, but was wondering if anyone has any idea where I can find some "Teaching Kids Reptiles" information on the net or something.
Any help would be appreciated. |

Make sure you have all the legalities of taking a snake into that environment sorted before you even consider doing this. You'll need some sort of cover, either under the umbrella insurance of the school or relevant animal organization.
How you're going to talk about reptiles for 45 minutes is up to your knowledge but i don't like your chances of holding a captive audience. You will need to be able to answer some real curly questions and also listen to lots of "my dad" stories. Personal experience with that age bracket i can tell you that you'll have FA or Buckleys keeping them amused with one snake for more than 10 minutes. |

I work in schools and always take pics of my herps in for them to look at (still trying to find out about educational display licence so I can actually take herps).

I've always taken a few animals for show and tell at my kids school ect. but as long as you are aware of of the legalities of it, and you can make up your own mind what to do.

-also more likely to bite a kid (even though it wouldnt hurt it raises all sorts of unsavory issues believe me, my job is to do the paperwork) | | | |
