temps

im just setting up my tank ready for my stimsons,
I have to chose from a
Sun glow bulb
Infared heat bulb
Basking globe and
A ceramic heating globe

For heating.
Also what area should the temp probe be placed to measue accurate temperatures?
I have a big rock thats closest to the light or on the floor?

Thanks.

Also just double checking, temperatures should be around 30 right?

30 sounds fine for the stimsons but if you find he doesn't eat you might need to bring it up but not more than 33-35. I personally prefer heatcord or heat mat rather than a light but out of your list I think I'd go for either the basking globe or infrared bulb. The sun glow I've heard can get too hot for snakes and the ceramic ones are hard to tell if they're working or not because you can't see through them. Do you mean thermostat probe or a thermometer? I'm not exactly sure on where thermometer should be as I use a lazer thermometer now and then, but I wouldn't use a thermostat with lights as the bulbs blow too much. Someone else might be able to advise you on a dimmer or something else, but this is just my opinion.

Its just with thermostats turning lights on and off all the time makes the bulbs blow too quickly. I have found anyway.

I am fond of heat sources that don't emit light, because you can use them 24-7, but that's just me.
