i got a piece of foam and cut a small section out to cover the probe and just covered it all withs oem silicon to hodl it all in place. This insulates the probe of the thermostat to control the temp because otherwise i found that the bottom half of the probe was hot but the top side was just reading the ambient air temp and it oculd not hold a steady temp.

I use gaffa tape to fix a cord to a glass tank, never had any problems, i remove and replace it prolly weekly when cleaning the tank. Any snake that can get that up deserves a medal!! Don't cheap out thou, get Nashua Gaff or alternatively Tesa has just released a high grade gaff that matches Nashua but 3/4 of the price, i'm a bit wary tho, haven't used that type. GL

As mentioned it sticks to their scales and can rip them off, i found out first hand about 10 years ago, luckily she only lost a few scales because i used oil to unstick it. If a snake got stuck on the hot spot it could also get cooked and die.
