Depends on what it's being used for and what sort of heat source it is controlling. The one pictured is perfect for controlling light globes but can also be used with ceramic heat emitters and heat pads/cords.

I disagree, seeing as i just had a $160 Microclimate DL2 **** itself after only 2 years (was only used for about 5-6 months of that 2 years).

whats the difference between a microclimate thermostat and any other ones? Or is microclimate just a brand name?

Microclimate is just the brand name Jess. They are very similar in function to a Habistat or any other probe thermostat for that matter, just more reliable, already pre wired and easier to use. That does comes as an expense though as they are the more expensive ones on the market. I think one is made in the US and one in the UK.

i am usig a habistat on my incubator and its fantastic- works well, even temp and i highly reccomend it.
have microclimate ones as well, but when i put a microclimate onto the incubator for a day, the temp swings were much greater.
my experience of the above is 5*.
