Heatmat: Aussie sun 30watt, Will thisbe enough to get the temp up high enough for a childrens/stimson/spotted? It's about 8c per day atm where I live. So will 30watt get it hot enough?

Thermostat: Habistat switching: It's the first one at www.herpshop.com.au in "thermostats". Is this one going to be good with the aussie sun heatmat?

All advice is helpful guys, It doesn't matter if you only know a little about them. I will be placing my order soon.

i bought a heat mat and habistat mat stat from herpshop last week,..together they are great, i did try a dimmer with the heat mat and it buzzed, but the mat stat is great.

one thing, for some reason the heat dial only goes up to 34C on the thermostat so i had trouble getting teh enclosure warm enough, simple solution was to move the probe a bit off the warm area, basically undug it a bit from the sand to help reach teh right temps.

dont let that put u off though, its an easy fix.

not sure on the wattage of othe heat mat, but its the 1x2 foot one.

hope that helps.

Thanks! I don't think children/spotted need it up at 34c anyway. (I'm not finished researching so i could be wrong.. I keep only finding american temps)

nah, tehyre teh same as my geckos i think,...around 32ish,...

but i was only getting the temps to 28,...hence the moving the probe,..

make sure you test temps with a thermometer regularly till u have the probe in the perfect spot.

have you looked into infrared lights for heat?
i thought that was meant to be the better way to heat snakes,...

Snake will be in a click clack for a few months, mats are meant to be better for that.. Thn I'll be using ceremic heat emitters in a 4x2x2 cage or so.

Herpshop are really helpful and knowledgeable. Send a quick email asking what will be best for your requirements and they will let you know what you need. They aren't like a regular petshop who will sell you anything to make a quick buck!
