If you mean a timer for uv etc, i use a digital one it plugs into the powerpoint.
Set it for an on and off time, then also set it to do it daily (this one can be set for certain days of the week) , u can connect it to more than one cage with a powerboard running from the timer.

That way you dont have to remember to turn on and off the lights
This one came from bunnings and was about $30 i think

Or if you want it to come on the same time every day you can get the 2 pack cheap ones for about $8 from bunnings does the job simple, you click down the segments for when u want power, each segment represents 15 minutes, not sure how well they keep time but if it goes out u can just change it back .

i got a power board with 4 plugs, with the electronic timer in-built. you set each point individually, and it was pretty cheap, i don't remember exact price, at Bunnings.
makes everything that much simpler, and doesn't make that annoying ticking sound of the cheaper ones.

Bunning's cheapies seem to handle upto about 1000watts and so can run 10-20 items. They can be used in conjunction with thermostats to provide night time cooling.
