When outside in the ponds, she spends most of her time sleeping under an artificial rock/waterfall out of the water. Before winter she was checked by the vet and yellowy cheesy stuff was cleared from her mouth. I was advised to not let her hibernate and take her inside for the winter, so she has been in a heated 4' tank the last few months. Even inside, she prefers to sleep on the floating dock, even though the air temp may be 14 and the water 25. Only in the last few very cold nights have I seen her sleep in the warm water. Perhaps that is why I have also noticed a recurrence of the cheesy stuff coming out of her mouth? She's eating ok in the meantime.
What can I do? Would some Bactonex in the water help?
Thanks

Did the vet say it was Cranker?in snakes it can lead to a Respiratory Infection very very quick.
I would get it back to a vet and in the meantime up the temp and feed the animal if it will eat.
Did the vet give the animal a shot of antibiotics and vitamin injection.

cheers Gary |

BTW she's not that little, 18cm scl.
There was no antibiotics given last time, but I will contact David Vella.

The turtle is now on a course of antibiotics. As the turtle is fond of sleeping out of the water, there will be a heat lamp left on at night.
