UV lights for Beardies

Hey all, i'm soon to get my first set of Beardies, i have the set up complete, (see pics in past post) and have recently been told that the, Repti Glo" 5.0 UVB, 30% UVA, 5% UVB, is not the best and that a nect10 (??) black light is better.

Would like to know if anyone has any ideas either way.

Cheers.

l agree the NECT10 Blacklight tube is the best for providing UV A-B.
Thay last a lot longer than Repti-Sun and Repti-Glo, and they a cheaper
as well.
lf you go to a petshop and ask them for advise, they will tell you the
NECT10 Blacklight can burn the eyes of the Lizards.
They a only saying that, to get you to buy the expensive ones imported
from overseas, so they can get more money out of you.
Why is it that the Lizards found in the wild, from areas like Alice Springs, don't
burn their eyes at all, when the UV from the sun is much stronger than any UV
tube you can buy.
The reason why is because they hyde from the sun, when its to hot.

And in captivity, they can do the same if you provide them with somewhere to hide.

there is no need for UV lights if you take your reptile outside once a week for an hour or so. but yes the T10s are alot better than the so called "Reptile UV Lights" its the medical UV lights you need to watch

Nec blacklights produce as much as 3 times the UVB and 9 times the UVA as the top "reptile specific tubes" . Philips TL produces even more UVB but less UVA. It also gives UVC which is what can cause eye problems. Contact Nelson for your nearest supplier of NEC tubes. They should cost between $18 and $22 for a 4ft tube, which is a fraction of the price of the petshop variety.

May be a funny question, but I assume from the name these are in fact 'black' lights, and don't give visible light, or is the name misleading?

Night clubs! You have all seen them, they are the lights that make white things glow, and yes they put out no night, but glow blue when on.

Try MVB's as well......if u r REALLY keen try the Mega Ray from the U.S. or the T-Rex. Arguably the best, but we all have our opinions and reasons. Each to their own.
