Question Water Bowl Help

Hi guys,

I need some opinions. I have a large carpet python (about 6 1/2 foot) who has a large plastic water bowl. over the last week or so he has been sitting in his water on and off (which he has always done) but is now tipping the water out all the time which is costing us a fortune in substrate as he wets it all the time.

i need a large deep water bowl so can you guys give me some suggestions on what to use. it is starting to drive me mad every day cleaning up his water mess. I need something heavy as he is obviously going to tip out the water if it is a bowl that is easy to lift.

Thanks heaps.

I use either large plastic bowls, or ceramic bowls.
I go for wider rather then deeper, which means they arent so top heavy and easy to push over whilst the snake does its thing.
Ive even seen vegie draws from fridges used with no tipping as long as the bottom is flat.
Ceramic bowls are too expensive new, so try either your second hand shop or op shop or the extra cheap tip shop.

Something a little alternative, i use a large black tub, it is about 30cm wide, and 45cm long stands about 15cm high
I fill that about half way so there is a fair amount of water in it which makes it pretty hard for them to tip over and still deep enough for them to climb in

dog dinner bowls, the metal ones that have the non slip ring around the bottom and are shaped to not tip over

dog bowls are great, like MoreliaMatt said, my 7 1/2 foot darwin carpet can't tip his over. I've also used an old large, square ceramic casserole dish and they can't seem to tip that either.

I use a big round plastic tub for my 6 foot Olive, he never tips it over though. Have you tried putting a rock in the tub?

Newspaper is cheap and does not cost a fortune. Also as Xander has already stated, "Have you checked for Mites?
