Whats was the water temp, what sort of filtration is used, what are the water parameters (pH, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate etc). Have you used any sprays near the tank? Does the other turtle appear fine? What are they being fed on? Any signs of physical trauma? Does the other turtle bully the one that died?

If you can answer those questions we might be able to help you abit more. Any pictures of the cage?

To be honest and I realise it doesn't help but it can just happen especially with young animals. You don't have to have done anything wrong. If everything in the tank seems fine without an expensive autopsy there is no way of knowing what happened.

Sometimes animals were just not ment to live, it could have been one of the weaker individuals from the clutch. Dont be hard on yourself but it is very hard to loose a new herp

there was no physical injuries and the other turtle is fine. i put the other in another tank just to be safe. no sprays or chemicals had been used either. the weird thing is there was no signs it went from fine to dead just like that. and the other turtle is a few centimetres smaller so i wouldnt of bullied the deceased one. they werent that juvenile though they were just about a year old

Any chance he could have drowned? Perhaps he got stuck in some plants or tank decorations?
