I noticed that most people use red light bulbs.
is this because:
a)They are warmer?
b)The light won't keep snakes up at night?
c)some other reason.
I am trying to work out if I should buy a r4ed globe or just use a clear one. |

The reason red lights work is because apparently the pythons can't see the red light in the same way that they see daylight, so it wont bug them when they're crawling around at night, they wont think it's the middle of the day and so they wont stay "asleep" or in hiding when they'd normally be up and about.
I'm quite sure I don't know what you're referring to Rennie

Which would make me believe that my beardies are being negatively affected be the light as previously they would go to sleep within 5 minutes of the bright light going off at sundown with no infra red. would beardies and snakes have the same eyes for colours? Meaning infra red possibly affecting snakes?

and by the way there is no proven evidance that clear bulbs have any affects on snakes wether on day or night.
i do still use infa red bulbs where night time heat is applied for any period of time though

If memory serves me correctly there is a paper out there somewhere describing the affect it had on breeding bredli (no babies).
