maybe true but there are people who have bred bredli with normal light bulbs as heat sorcue sucessfully year after year so maybe it was not the light that was the problem or maybe the few pair of bredli i am talking about are just special

I thought it was common knowledge that reptiles need (or at least benefit greatly from) a day/night photoperiod, particularly if attempting to breed.

You're saying the people who bred the bredli with normal (clear) lights, had them on 24 hours??

YES, that is way too hot! This is a python we're talking about isn't it (I forgot),If so you want about 32 max and only at one end, the other end should be about 24 or so.

Are we talking about the same thing here? Clear globes are fine to use, i use them myself, but only during the day. During the night i either use a coloured globe, or no globe. Clear globes shouldn't be left on 24 hours a day.

i think that too high, 28-32 i would think to be a good temp, what type of snake?

do normal lights work as a heat source or do you need to buy the fancy globes that are actually called heat lights and cost triple the amount of money? because on the weekend i renovated my mertens cage, and as most of you probaly know even though i live in darwin where its hot, monitors need a gradient heat somewhere in their enclosure of arounf 35 degrees or there can be long term affects such as arthritess (sorry im shockin speller) and i got a new globe old 1 was busted, and i only bought a 60watt light (for normal lighting purpose but its shaped so it directs beem in one place, it was from bunnings) and this one doesnt seem to heat very well, i felt the big rock it pointing on and its not even warm to the touch, but ive heard of other herpers using them and my dad sugested it so i tryed it.......

sorry i need this help because i dont usually need lights so i have next to no experience with them except for my mertens light

he uses clear clobes night and day single fitting in enclosure if heat is required of a night time then yes the clear light comes on

i would recoment the mercury vapour bulb for mertons will give uv as well as heat (btw i know bugger all abt moniters and dont even know if mertons need uv)
but the mv bulbs r great
