what to cover styrofoam in??

just wanting to know what to use to cover styrofoam in to make it hard like concrete and water proof?? brands and names would be awesome... will be a basking platform for my beardie... what can i use to glue it together?? tips and help please....

give it a light coat of plaster and then add sand over the top? i dunno; just a suggestion.

Don't quote me, but from memory white glue (PVC Glue) should glue it ok - definately NOT superglue or anything like that, as it will disolve the foam (and give off toxic fumes)

The plaster with sand would not be water proof - though a few coats of watered down white glue (so that it flows smoothly, but not too watery) would seal it and give it some level of water proofing.

If you sprinkle some fine sand over each glue coat, it will give it texture - though the colour will be your issue then. In the past I'd then paint and flock it, but that would not be any good for your beardies...

If in doubt google "terrain building" and it will give you good advice on cutting, glueing, etc...

ok shalinor but i want stuff that i can get in australia most of thoses guides are american etc.... plummers grout sounds good.... is it easy to use?? have u used it before?? where do i get it from??

yes i have used it and bunnings has it comes in all natural looking coulers realy easy to use and is ovously water proof being plumbers lol its good

what me and my friend are in the middle of doing is; we've gotten chicken wire and modelled our own rock (were going to make a cave but too hard) and heavely covered it in newspaper. We're going to paint it a basic brown colour, then do a few layers of plaster and sand.
