Jamie and Roger thank you for your help.

Here are some photos of the set up - There is a 25W heat cord running along the back the tubs. They are 5lt tubs so a lot of room to move to the cooler end or get above it on the plastic lattice.

All my other hatchies are doing great - but this one - who has been there as long as them.

So short of the vet to come back to me on this - is it a issue either a husbandry (management) one, or a health related one?

What the breeder said on a PM - "Why did you not contact me as soon as the issue arose, why did you find the need to start a thread?

I'm not sure what the issue may be, I will get back to you shortly with possible reasons".

This was Yesterday and what's the wait on time limit for these things for a reply?
I only found the third pinkie yesterday so I ask if this has happen to anyone else - Is this what the forum is for?
So why is it the wrong thing to do - Breeders not in a hurry

Geez that sucks mate. In my experience there is nothing worse then waiting for to hear back from someone - especially after you have paid out hard earned money for something, hey??

Terrible customer service........

Try adding a warmer spot , 33c at one end , in case the hatchie does want higher temp ,but always provide a cool end 26c is good for hatchie,
sometimes a hatchie will get onto the higher warm spot as soon as it realises its there ,
the extra heat will help digest the meal faster so the hatchie get the nutriants into it system ,
also add a dark hide,
black plastic containers are good so the hatchling can hide totally ,
the most nervous of hatchies and shy feeders need this dark hide to feel secure and not stressed out ,
and quarantine the hatchie away from your others ,
good luck,

Setup looks good ALK - another thing you may want to do (and Roger has some good advice) is to check your temps with at least 2 thermometers if you are not confident to go by feel... Sometimes the cheaper digital thermometers are WAY out with regard to accuracy.

Just on the breeder-buyer interaction... most good breeders will help you resolve the problems you may have, as promptly as possible. I would expect anyone who had a problem with an animal I bred to come to me first. Given the history of some of these forums, queries like this can deteriorate into a "name & shame" debate in the blink of an eye, often even before the breeder is aware there is a problem. That, plus the fact that you may be led up the garden path by well meaning but poorly informed participants would make me wary of seeking the kind of advice you are after here.

Although it may seem a pressing problem for you, often thereis quite a bit of time to resolve these issues - I often don't even offer my babies their first feed for 6-8 weeks, and they are fine. (It can be less frustrating that way - by then they are really hungry and have a very good feeding response).

So, normal course of action would be...
1) Seek assistance of breeder
2) pester breeder if response is slow (but give him/her time to think about the problem!)
3) Get a veterinary assessment if the problem doesn't resolve itself
4) If there IS a health issue, get back to breeder asap, but understand that the breeder was unlikely to be aware of any problem when he/she sold the animal to you, so don't accuse him/her of deliberate misrepresentation. That would be unfair. You could discuss the issue of vet bills as well. If the health issue can't be easily resolved, the breeder may happily replace the snake (this is what I would do if an underlying health issue was discovered - and I had a replacement animal...)

Most hatchies are fairly bulletproof as I said previously, but just occasionally there are problems I have had a few over the years which have failed to digest the yolk they absorb at hatch, and it solidifies into a hard, cheesy mass in the bowel for example.

Hope this helps...

Jamie.

that set up is fine, but as others have said, re check your temp at the hot end, my set up is identical but i use click clacks and ive got my heat cord a 40w running in two lines at the back of the container, with a temp gun hot end sits around 32-34. I think the problem could be heat related. Did this regurgitating ever happen for the previous owner/breeder?

I don't think this should turn into a "name & shame" topic either!

It can be rather stressing for a new owner to find a problem with a new addition and I agree your first point of contact should be with the seller/breeder but in my recent experience sometimes you do hit brick walls with the seller/breeder BUT that's not to say you shouldn't at least give them a chance to respond. If they don't give you the satisfactory response or outcome then you need to seek further assistance.

Hopefully you will get a reply from the breeder soon Darren and it may shed some light on the situation, otherwise how did the trip to the vet go?

Regurging isn't normal and should be acted on promptly to not add further stress or damage to the hatchy.
Good luck and hopefully all will be ok soon!

Cheers,
Mell

I would like to thank all who have offered their knowledge and advice Jamie, Dan, Steve, Brett, Mell and anyone I have forgotten to mention you make owning a reptile and looking after it so easy - with out you guys/girls a lot of us would be up the proverbial creek without a paddle.
