Where to put thermometer

I have one of them heatmats that have the sticky adhesive which sticks to the underside of the tank - only 1/3 size of tank like you's said, & going at one end.

So to keep an eye on temperature at either end, accurately, where's the best spot to put the thermometers?

Well, maybe it is obvious but I'm too dumb to work it out. I know in aquariums you'd place the thermometer furthest from the heater but in aquariums you only need one thermometer. But I've been told you need two in a reptile tank to monitor cool end and warm end. So where would the thermometer for the warm end go? Just above the heater where your snake lays the most, or would you put it right at the top away from the heater.

RE: Re: RE: Where to put thermometer

k i will tell you what i have been told to do and am currently doing...

put the cool probe in the spot where the reptile is going to spend most of its time, and the same goes for the warmer end, it has been recomended to me that you put the probe in the hide... mine is about 2mm behind it.
Another way you can do it is you can simply monitor the average Temps, place a single theremometer probe in the middle of the enclosure, about 3/4 of the way up the side and monitor the averages that you particular reptile needs...
