Instead of getting aggressive she is educating. Hundreds and hundreds of kittens and cats get put down each year simply because they have no where to go. There are too many cats, they should be desexed before being sold and maybe there should only be registered breeders breeding, only where there is a demand for their breed of cat. If enough people shouted this out maybe something might be done.
If you do have a cat in W.A. and it is not desexed, think about it and talk to a vet. If you join the Western Australian Cat Association the desexing of cat costs only $50 for male and $70 for female. (u get that money back when u save money not feeding kittens) And having animals desexed doesnt really change them except they dont tend to roam as much as before(but they shouldnt be outside and able to roam). I had my hubbys cat desexed when i met him and he is still a rough tom cat and still takes on the dog when he is in the mood.
I Know cats are a touchy subject on APS, seeing pics of victims of cat attacks are upsetting and can get some ppl angry but i plead with ppl not to harm cats if they are found outside.... but if u fear for ur animals saftey i would catch the cat and take him to a vet so they can try to find the cat a proper home....

I would never try and hurt a cat, killing it humanely is however the only way to prevent animal cruelty and killing of protected species. In Qld it is a legal requirement to eliminate feral cats on your property as they are a declared pest. Keeping stray/feral cats alive in shelters wastes heaps of tax money that could be used to help save our native animals. They are no more or less worthy as a food item than a rat. |
