What is the best way you have found to keep them?
What sort of foods are you using and how are you obtaining it?
I have had agood read and been looking at them for a while now as a pet alternative. Was thinking of designing a bioshere down the track so would like some species specific experience first.
ANy help would be great.
BEfore every one says search this and that, i have done that. |

I used to keep them as a kid and was so amazed on how they feed, I fed them to death.
1 cricket every 3 days is plenty.

| | | i got "a" pray mantis in a 30cm by 18cm tank. shes around 5cm long. she also laid eggs in the tank which i ws pretty happy about (my dad must have rescued her while she was pregnant)
i feed her maybe 1 roach (i see around the house thats not sprayed) and the occasional caterpillar or bug i find around the house once every 3 days. i dont use anything special like heating etc..... i cut a few branches off some shrubs once a month and swap them over with the branches (with leaves of course) that were in there previously
its really sweet when you see them stalking they're prey and then BANG! it strikes and starts eating it
hope this helped

| | | | I used to keep them from time to time and always fed them "walks", for those that don't know they are flies with one or more wings removed.
Never had a problem with overfeeding and fed several each day.
