Got called out to pick up this little one from my local pier at mornington..
These little penguins shed their feathers at this time of year and are often left stranded as they cant get wet when theyre shedding and need to stay in their burrows for about two weeks.
I met up with a carer who specialises in these birds and and she has taken the animal to the Phillip Island facility where it will be cared for untill it puts on some weight..
550 grams is very seriously under for an adult of this species...and after about 5 days we will know if it can be released back.
The dredging of Port Phillip Bay is already having an effect on these birds.    |

mate i have dived port phillip bay for years mate there is nothing there to effect from the dredging
