Afric: I'm not sure if Bob breeds Vic carpets, but I know that John Montgommery does. I've been told that no-one else in the state breeds as good a line as he does. Hope this helps.

Bob is not the only person who's name and reputation has been rubbished in this forum. I can name several little and big guys in the hobby that have been publically ridiculed and their names discreditted because of other members of this site. I think the best way to avoid these situations from occurring in the future is to update the rules, specifically:

2. Be nice to other members. Any name calling or general nastiness will not be tolerated, you will be given a chance to apologise, however if not done so, or if you are a repeat offender, your account will be deleted.

5. If you have a problem with the site or any other member, please PM a moderator and we'll look into it. Other members are not really interested in private feuds, so don't post your argument in the forums.

8. If you have a beef with someone and don't want to have the moderators handle it, then PM (Personal Message) them directly. Fights in forums bring the whole feel of the community down and will not be tolerated. Any comments or arguments in the forums may be deleted without notice at the sole discretion of the moderators and admins. Discussions on any such action will be at the sole discretion of the admins/moderators

10. Be tolerant of all other users. Remember, we have members of all ages and levels of experience and enthusiasm. Rude remarks and hurtfully sarcastic comments will be deleted. Bear in mind that a sarcastic comment that an adult would laugh at may be hurtful to a young member.

I purchased a couple of Bob's Bredls last season. I went up to his place to pick them up but unfortunately Bob wasn't there so I didn't get to meet him. His Missus showed me and Ethan around his collection and it was to say the least very impressive. I haven't had any trouble with the animals I got from Bob, they are healthy and really good quality. If I'm ever asked for a recommendation on who to contact regarding the purchase of Reptiles Bob is always in the top 3. A lot of senior APS people have seen my Bredls and can vouch for them being good quality.

Cheers, Greg.

Hey Everyone

This Bob goy you have been talking about is he a breeder located near gosford. Because i am getting my first snake off him this weekend, a bredli, and i was just wonder whether or not it is the same guy. On the phone he sounded like a very organised and experienced herp breeder. He gave me heaps of help and tips.

I just bought my first ever herp (coastal carpet python hatchling) this morning, and it happened to be Bob that I bought it from. I'm extremely happy with her (not to mention so excited about my first herp hehe).

When I mentioned to Bob that it was my first python he spent time with me showing how to handle her properly, gave me a caresheet and tips on what to do...Seems like a top bloke to me...Love his setup

I've dealt with Bob a number of times. The animals I got from him are good healthy eating snakes and I've had good advice from him. I have no doubt that I will do business with him again. He knows his stuff and I would recommend his snakes.

Well Slatey since you asked,

First let me say that Bob's snakes always seem very healthy & his facilities very clean. He always has the best examples of every species. There's probably no-one who can rival Bob in breeding knowledge.

He's no idiot.

But I live in the area & I think that Bob's manner may be part of the problem.

Someone I know recently asked him some questions after purchasing a snake & Bob's wife said that they don't like selling snakes to unexperienced keepers. But I also know 10 year olds he has sold to this year?

Also I don't get the fact that Bob complains about how many phone calls he gets when he doesn't take deposits or full payment prior to the animals being ready. So everyone is constantly phoning him for fear of missing out. Lots of people including myself feel that Bob treats them like idiots when they call about a hatchling & they get a curt response about it not being ready.

It's his business so he can do what he likes but don't complain about fruits of your business strategy! I run my own business & the only reason I can think of regarding Bob's attitude is that he feels he has a monopoly.

Brendan, I feed my Mulga GTP hatchlings !

Buggiesmuggler. Make up your mind, who did they speak too me or my wife. Could not have been both unless we were tagteaming. As for my wife she has NEVER told anyone we do not sell to unexperienced people. She did however a few weeks back tell someone we do not sell too or show UNLICENCED people our collection. Over half my reptiles go to people who have never kept before. They are given caresheets and are encouraged to ring if they have problems

Also I don't get the fact that Bob complains about how many phone calls he gets when he doesn't take deposits or full payment prior to the animals being ready. So everyone is constantly phoning him for fear of missing out.

You are correct in saying I do not take deposits or full payments prior to sale. But who could blame me. Ive had people pay deposits, not pick up animal which I have been holding and feeding and ask for return of deposit 6 months later. I had people pay deposits and take 6 months to pick up animal. Ive had people pay full price in advance and again not pick up for months. I had one gentleman who asked could he pay off a pair of lizards. It was to take 2 months, however it was a year later when he picked up his pair of now matured lizards. You name it and its been done to me. It has left me very hardened when it comes to the business side of things. My policy is first come, first served. Its surprising how many other breeders are adopting this same policy.

As for the phone calls, I have no problem with people ringing back to see if a species is ready to go. I do however get annoyed with the mass of calls I receive for the housing, caring, breeding, and even sexing of reptiles which have been purchased from another breeder. Why on earth bother me. Why not ask the breeder themselves. My wife often jokes I should start charging a consultant fee for the advise I give out.

Lots of people including myself feel that Bob treats them like idiots when they call about a hatchling & they get a curt response about it not being ready.

If I seem a little curt with my reponse of it not been ready yet, try again in a week or two, so be it. But what else do you want me to say???? I just answer you questions.

It's his business so he can do what he likes but don't complain about fruits of your business strategy! I run my own business & the only reason I can think of regarding Bob's attitude is that he feels he has a monopoly.

I only complain about the huge amount of unnecessary calls I receive(sometimes up to 50 a day on weekends) who just want free advise and have never been one of my customers. I still advise give them advise allthough I shouldnt, but I like to help people. As for me thinking I have a monopoly, what a joke. There are 5 more serious breeders living within 10 Klms of me.

There is an old saying. You can't please all the people, all the time. Some people expect more than they receive, if they dont get it they complain. This can include advise.
