Why do beardies eat their shed skin?

Hi,

My baby beardie started shedding today and quite happily ate a little bit of it. I know this is pretty common, but does anyone know why they do it or have any theories?

That could be. I've seen my beardie lick things and I guess she's testing them out.

If you put a bit of snake shed in the enclosure its hilarious to see how dragons react.they hide for a bit then get curious,eventually they go nuts for it.
