Hi all I've just joined your site and am enjoying reading the threads.
It's been quite a few years since we kept snakes and even then it was only a couple of childrens' pythons and a lovely Water Python called Valentine as well as a couple of blue tongues. I got the snakes for myself but used the kids as an excuse, my husband is not much of a snake lover lol
My son gave Valentine to some friends in exchange for a bird for his girlfriend, which was sad as I had him from a hatchling and a few years down the track he was enormous and I loved him to bits. After that I gave the CP & the blues to friends as well as I was not that interested in those my dream always was to get a black headed python.
Anyhow back then there was no forums to chat and see other peoples snakes so I thought I'd join now , I'm hoping to talk my husband into letting me get my BHP - so far no luck but maybe when there are babies about he may give in and let me have one.
Currently we live in Far North Qld and I breed and rear my own racing Greyhounds love them to bits we have a couple of champs the slow ones are all here as well :P, I am also a mad photographer not pro just for fun but I do get the odd decent shot.
Ok sorry for waffling on thank you

Hi,
Been in OZ for over 3 years now, moved from Cape Town, South Africa. Had a nice mixed collection over the years and shared the passion with my eldest son. He has got me hooked again so we will slowly start building our collection. At this stage the collection is 3 x Albino Darwin. All off this forum, the pair is stunning and we are very pleased, can't say the same for the single male. :-)

My collection before we came here consisted of: Brazilian Boa's, Columbian Boa's, Dumerils Boa's, corn snakes LOL, Puff adders, WDB's, Cape Cobra, Red spitters, Nubian spitters, Mozambique spitters, Green Mamba's, Black spitters, Rinkals banded and normal, White lip's, couple of other snakes, some spiders, geckos and Sungazers.

I am really looking forward to having an Australian collection and I am sure I will learn a lot from the members on this forum about reptiles I have never kept.

Cheers

Growing up in South Africa there seemed to be way more snakes around then on the NSW central coast where I am now living. Is there anyone up that way that goes out herping?

Hi all, sorry I posted an intro thread but it disappeared... So Ill try again. Sorry if two threads appear. I recently purchased a Bredli python for my 11 year old Daughter. Apples (the Bredli) seems to love to be handled, so hope that stays that way. Being absolute beginners, can anyone recommend any good books to read? Also, the breeder only sold us a heat mat, but the temp in the enclosure is only 22 degrees, should I buy a heat rock or lamp? Any info greatly appreciated.
