They won't be the most cost effective food animal to breed. They have relatively long pregnancies and they rarely have more than 2-3 babies per litter. They are also prone to vitamin C deficiency.

I don't keep them but from what I understand they are not appropriate animals to share an aviary with birds. They are mostly nocturnal which will disturb roosting birds.
