He was really bitey at first and had a poor shed also but now he's great !!

I use gaffa tape to fix a cord to a glass tank, never had any problems, i remove and replace it prolly weekly when cleaning the tank. Any snake that can get that up deserves a medal!! Don't cheap...

I'd go with trying a snake hook, less obtrusive than a big scary hand and he's not going to pick up on your body heat. Good luck :D
