Do childrens pythons need a UV light

When i got my snakes the dealer told me that childrens pythons do not need uv lights unlike othe types of snakes. Is this true? Also do they need a timer on the heat lamp to simulate day and night?

Also when I had been feeding they were being fed at the same time at differnent ends of the cage. They had been happy with this for the previous 8 feeds
