I just put mine in a sealable sandwich bag. Fill up a mug with hot tap water. Put the mouse/rat in there. Then put a spoon on the bag to keep it submerged.
Works a treat.

I certainly will. He's slowly becoming amendable to handling, but trying to remove a stubborn shed, especially from his tail (he's not real keen on me touching that bit) will be fun.
