I only have one snake that won't eat in a shed cycle, the others have no problem eating or shedding after eating.

Pop your box of crickets into the freezer until they slow down a bit (watch the time though or you'll kill them) and they are much easier to handle.

I've got childrens the same age and I feed them early 5 to 7 days. I've just upped their food from pinkies to fuzzie mice (7 day old mice).
