I just pick up whatever they are hiding in (cardboard tube or egg carton) and shake a few into the feeding tub. I do the same with woodies, saves me ever having to touch them :)

Is sand ok when they are small, the gecko is about 3-4cm. I'm not sure if it's ok for him to be getting bits of sand with his roaches.
