On the substrate issue I would not risk feeding on anything other than newspaper or marine...

If you are charged I think the standard is first one or two cuts free then a $1 each, for rest.

I don't know if putting under heat will speed up the process i reckon just letting it air outisde is probably the best and check the strength of smell each day it may not take a week imho.

I have a 1200x60x60 and am in the process of going bigger to cater for my big girl, around 2mtrs and growing.

Buy some disposable rubber gloves to handle the food and keep any scent u may have on your hands off it.
The gloves also comes in handy to put the food in to soak in hot water to warm it.
