Hi all,
I'm a beginner and currently looking forward to purchasing my first reptile  (just waiting for my license to arrive, I applied last week so I'm expecting to recieve it by the end of this week). I've been doing my research for quite some time now and have been told that for beginner's the most suitable reptiles would be:
Snakes: Childerns/Spotted python
Lizard: Bearded Dragon/Blue tongue Lizard
I am currently in the process of purchasing the necessary enclosures+accessories and should be ready to purchase the reptile end of next week. I would prefer to start off with a bearded dragon however will consider purchasing the python if I cannot find the right dragon. Any information would be of great help to me. I live in Sydney, NSW (st. george area) and would prefer to buy locally, however a 1 drive would not bother me too much. Try going to the South Coast Herp meeting, first Monday of the month at Fairy Meadow Civic Hall, 7.30om start. You don't have to be a member to attend but there are plenty of members from the shire/st.george areas who turn up and might be able to steer you down the right path.

they dont have any bearded dragons and can someone please tell me how long it usually takes to receive the reptile license.. its been about 2 weeks since i've applied.

hi mate.... its only a short drive to the airport... OuZo has some gorgeous beardies for sale at the moment and she can frieght at a low cost (thread in for sale forum)..... shes also lovely and will answer ur millions of questions ur gonna have lol....
As for the snake there are a couple for sale on www.herpshop.com.au at the moment if you wanna have a squiz...
And my licence when i was back in NSW took like 4wks to come through but u can call parks and wildlife and get ur licence number so u can purchase something just remember to fill out the details in ur book when u get it...
