Hi, I am looking at getting a spotted python.
Had arranged with a supplier however the deal fell through.
This will be our first reptile and we have two young children.
Would value any suggestions or alternative thoughts.

I'd suguest a MD or any of the spotted, blond mac, or childrens, if your looking at size and and loving calm nature go for the smaller pythons as the last 3 but it you want an all round placif animal that grows to 2 meters I'd go for a MD, MD's can also be cheaper to buy and they grow pretty slow. you really need to go in and choose it with the kids as well and handle a few, they all have different personalities. same goes for any first snake. where do you live?

but with any hatchy can be snappy untill they've gotten used to you of cause, so for a already taimed snake I'd get a yearling or a lil under a yearling just to be sertain

not sure of any breeders around there but if you want to check out http://www.reedysreptiles.com/ and talk to Ponybug in here they may be able to refer you to someone closer to you and give you more advice.

I have a spotted and a childreni, they are both fantastic, great handlers and good temprement, but I think the spotted would be better.
