Is this a Dwarf Adder?

Hubby came across this little guy out where he was doing some work.
Other contractors dug him up with a loader and before hubby could get to move him he got squashed by a load of dirt. Have been giving him some heat and he has been in the water alot. He looks a bit worse for wear so will see how he is going in the morning.
Have I identified him correctly or am I way off. Am only guessing really from other pics
I have seen.

Looks like a Devis Banded Snake to me ,
hes not looking in good shape ,does appear to be injured etc
although he will shed in the near future .
Hope he pulls threw.

It's a De Vis' Banded Snake - Denisonia devisi. Often called Death Adders or Mud Adders by locals but they aren't an Adder and are only distantly related to true Death Adders. They are potentially dangerous so be careful with him, although by the look of the posterior swelling he won't be alive too long.

about vens ID. He doesn't look good though a little more alert.

G'day Jason,

Looks more like the swelling I've seen in snakes that have had their backs broken...they get that spongy, limp feeling in their back end. I didn't actually think about the snake being gravid - let's hope so.

Moving much much better, using it's whole body and looks alot more alert.
Still 'lumpy" looking though so not sure how it will go but I think we've done all we can,
we are planning to release him tonight, just waiting for hubby to come home.

Well it is still in our care today as we ran out of time last night.
I will try and get some more pics when it's released. They are
such interesting little snakes, it has always been very calm,
and doesn't jump around or even get into a striking position
like most other wild snakes. Is this a trait of them all or just because
this one is injured?

Some of them act very calm, but they are quick tempered and can strike without warning.
