Im not sure what to believe! I used to own a cat that would stand taller than a staffy but theres no way a cat that size could inflict the injurys on livestock that have been documented. up on the mountain range I have seen cat prints the size of my palm and have it on video next to my hand but never an actual cat! have heard all the stories though...... an arguement I heard once was that the panther form was a co-dom trait and if they were breeding there would be both spotted and black cats out there but from what I understand thats only the case with the jaguar and the black leopard is a recessive trait
who knows
I dont see why someone doesnt do a propper job of trapping one? but maybe the authorities wont allow it?
im not totally convinced but im not fully against the possibility either

Ive seen a lot of footage on youtube of the panthers down vic and heard storys of sightings up my way.
Years ago someone had crap footage of a big black panther in one of the caravan parks around here.
Ive also seen pics of a bloke holding a feral by the tail, with his arm in the air its head was touching the ground, as the feral generations progress i reckon the bastards are getting bigger.

I guess when you think about it, the Leopard in africa is one of the most unseen animals. i met a bloke who owned land in Sth Africa, thousands of acres, and he had leopard on his property but had never seen more than a very fleeting glimpse of something he thought MAY have been one.

Ive heard of stories many times from different people of Tigers and Pathers escaping from a circus train during the 1960's in the Pemberton area of the SW WA. But not sure what to believe. Ive been woken up a couple times by my cat and anoterh big *** black cat fighting. Its about the same size as my staffy. Which stands about 60cm tall if that. Have blood tracks still sitting under the patio. But they are only small prints, could my cats or the others. I havent bothered to see if there my cats.

i would be impressed even if i saw one of these "dog sized" feral cats i hear about but never see pics.
Every feral cat ive shot has been your average moggy size.
As for panthers i have met an american who is out here investigating them and i asked him if he was a Cryptozoologist and he got very offended LOL

I watched something like this. Its Gordon Ramsay's the F word. His sheep got killed at beckham's mansion. Its on Youtube.

I was watching some show about a chef who kept his own sheep.. one day when he checked on them one of the adults was dead and half of it was eaten.. he called a vet to check it out and the vet said it looked like the work of a big cat. Then called a specialist who confirmed it certainly did - crushed neck/windpipe or something and certain markings on the bones like the cats nibble. Said it looked just like a big cat attack and took it away with him.

Dunno what to believe about that but it was pretty spooky, if they can survive in the English woods (assuming they can haha) why not here?

I'd say the "panthers" were probably big black feral cats and were sighted by fishermen :D

Our house backs onto a pretty dense coastal wetland area on the Central Coast and there have been two recent sitings of big cats here.

my step dad is a cryptozoologist and we were investigating strange things going on in the blue mountains NSW on a bush walking trail. we camped the night there and didnt see anything so far but once we headed back to the car at the end of the trip, i decided to take a dip in the water fall over hang. Once i was in there i found huge paw prints that looked like a cat maybe. shortly after i was done cooling off we started walking again and on the way a black figue on 4 legs crossed our path about 75metres away then it took off without a noice
it scared the ****** out of me to this day its a pitty we didnt get a pic of the figue but i did get pic of the paw ill try and find it somewhere for everyone to see :)

there used to be lots of sightings of the "kangaroo valley panther", and then the cops brought in random breath testing in the 80's and i havent heard of a sighting since...

Exactly, and this is a continent with mainly grasslands and few scrub areas. Where they are reputed to be in Australian states are all areas of thick vegetation and almost wilderness. Why is it so hard to believe there may be some out there?

I would not rule out the possibilities.

True Jay.... we used to camp out in the bush both hunting in the bush and fishing on the coast and freaked ourselves out (when young) because we had seen 'big" ferals...not panthers, i honestly think that is an exaggeration....Jay have you seen a big black pussy before in your area? ;) No I don't think so where you live..lol

not really
I was just looking up myths and urban legends from around the world on youtube some of the vids are pretty funny if you interested hahahah
Then I remember a story from the news I've seen a few times on channel 7 and 60 minutes. And here we are

I am serious when i say this but because i was little i may have exaggerated its size however, i still believe myself when i say it was about 80cm off the ground, and over 1.5m long. We rented a house boat for a 1 week holiday up the Hawksbury River, early i nthe morning, roughly 7am we went to collect our crab pots. We were going over to the 2nd pot and we pulled it up, we didnt get a crab but we got a baby shark, it was a tiny shark, luckily it was still alive so we let it go quickly. I was 5 Years old at this time. On our way back to the house boat, we passed the same small island which we did before, me and my sister looked over at the island and there it was. the big black cat, i was so scared. I told my sister and she saw it too....somehow i dont know how my dad didnt see it...maybe i didnt say anything to him...i dont know why i wouldnt have.

But he tells us it was probably just a feral cat, but i dont believe him. I was little so i was terrified it was going to swim over to us lol! Later on in the holiday we went to another island and i was scared the cat was going to be on the island, but there where just goats on it, i was still scared of them that i started crying and crawled onto my dads shoulders lol. I hated their eyes.

I sure do believe in the big black cats! My dad told me that in the 60s i think it was... maybe earlier a Circus had some Panthers(i think thats what he said they where) and they escaped, I think there were 2 of them.

There has been credible sightings, scats, paw prints, photos and video footage all documenting large cats in the (southern) Great Dividing Range in eastern Australia. The one consistency with the credible sightings, photos and footage is that the specimens are black. Hardline critics can't explain that one away. Theory is that the reason they are so secretive is due to their low numbers (like foxes in Tasmania until their population exploded). One day a dead one will turn up, just a matter of time, proving they are here.

At the local rubbish tip there are many feral cats that live up there, i whent up there one night with a couple of mates to see the feral cats as allot of people were telling me about them being up there and in about 3 hours we had seen 20 good sized cats. There is a cat at the tip that everybody knows about and they have named it Garfield, that night i was up there i shined my torch at what i thought was a sandstone slab but when i looked closer i realised this was not a sandstone slab but a cat. This feral cat was huge, it would have been easily bigger then a medium sized dog and it's head was massive. I know i have gone of topic but in my opinion about these supposably big cats that people have seen i reckon there just feral cats.
Thanks Tim.
