What's happening at Snakeranch?

Just wondering whether anyone has recently heard anything from or about Snakeranch.
I have tried emailing them a couple times and have had no response at all.
Trying to get on their mailing list too, but there's no indication of how to join it anywhere on their site (or at least I can't find anything).

Where can you view their actual available stock list? (Not the species information list)

Would appreciate any guidance

I think the business will likely be re-established down the track as there were a lot of interested parties though this will likely take time to let the dust settle.
They had too many awesome animals/projects for them all to be lost.

That'd be great, but I doubt they have the time or funds to manage a new facility on top of Devil Ark and all their other conservation programs.

I dont think that would benefit the hobby at all. I doubt there would be the motivation/skills or resources to breed some of those 'specialist' lines that we all touched on earlier in this thread. Those genes would be able to live out their lives but that would be the end of the black woma, albino RBB etc.

The company that owned RDU was deregistered more than a year ago and I assume similar with Snake Ranch. Martin Kennedy's guilty plea now means National parks can legally confiscate any animals that were under his licence, that is if any are left that were not quickly disposed of when he was first charged. It will be interesting to see if they try to confiscate some of the animals disposed of, held by others or not accounted for.

That's exactly what I was thinking would've happened, YT.
Seems unlikely they wouldn't have taken his animals.
Particularly the RBB...because gosh knows the office type don't tend to appreciate the poisonous bitey things!



(I know snakes are venemous/have my vens endorsement, this is a dig at the general lacking Knowledge often shown by office workers).

Exactly. Were they in fact on his licence? I wouldn't be surprised if someone as dodgy as Mr Kennedy didn't have any of the animals on his licence knowing their worth and what would happen to them if he was ever caught.

If they were on his licence they could have been confiscated immediately, once charged, to held by the department until the outcome of the court case. If found not guilty they would then be returned.
I know of someome who had a little trouble with the police, while the police were there they called NPWS to come check whether the animals were legal. Once the NPWS officers were there the person couldn't produce their licence and record book as it was just after moving house. The animals were taken by the department and held for a few days until they confirmed all the animals were in fact licenced and were then returned.
