Does anyone have any experience with using prickly pear (pads and fruit) as a staple for dragons? Ive read that they're pretty calcium rich.

Not as a staple, but it would be good for that. Various species and individual variations vary.

I figured only sometimes or small amounts because its so moisture dense

I think the leaf pads would be good as a staple. It is suggested as a staple by http://www.beautifuldragons.com/Nutrition.html

The thing to be careful of is what species you have. Some species are illegal pests in parts of Australia and could get a you a nasty fine or potentially even cause an ecological problem. You can also use them to feed roaches and other animals that will end up being better value food. Be careful of the large spikes and fine glochids, I remove them just to be safe.

Theres a park i get all the branches and logs for my scalies from that has a ton of it so id just need to stop on the way home and get a pad when i needed it
