Hello everyone,

I have a 5 year old female Carpet Python.

I have only had her for about 4 months.

In the cage she wants to tear me apart, but once I get her outside she is fine.

Inside the house if I try and handle her she will try and tag me.

Could I please ask why are they like this and what can I do to train her

Regards Rob Colbert

Do you feed her inside her cage? It could be a feeding response or she is just territorial and defensive

It could just be a behaviour she picked up from somewhere else

Some snakes until they know they are not getting food are very food conscious until out of that mind frame.

If you lived in a cage and the only interaction you get from the outside world was first and foremost to be fed, you'd be excitedly aggressive too!

Hey SKYWLKR.

Who knows we all could be locked in a cage waiting for interaction from the outside world from some kind of highly intelligent beings.
