Thanks anyway haha, yeah there isnt many people on the coast, the vet I got told about charges 26.50 per snake and when you have 10 to do it’s a bit pricey unfortunately

HAHAHA THATS A JOKE!

it literally takes 30 seconds at most to do it, and most of that is trying to get the snake in a good position in your holding hand

was the vet going to pop or probe do you know? i could maybe see that price if they were going to probe

but probing is really for snakes that are a bit older and have better control on their "cloaca muscles" --- probing a youngling is a bit iffy with how small they are

The most expensive vet on the Gold Coast only charges his normal consultation fee and will probe as many as he can do in that time which is a lot.

Yeah could possibly be trying to rip me off, I’m not sure if they specialise in reptiles at all which could be the other possible reasoning behind it.
I’m pretty sure they said they were going to probe them and I was thinking the same as you... that they were a bit young to do that method.
[doublepost=1584624889,1584624678][/doublepost]I’ve tried popping them myself, but am just a bit uneasy about it.. I don’t want to harm them so I’m probably not rolling with enough force. Deffinetly can not hurt to be shown a few times just so I’m comfortable.. if you know what I mean.

They all looked like girls to me bar one or two which were a bit iffy. But they were also only a week old...

Mate I don't pop any and I don't care how expert or experienced you are there is a risk of injury with Australian python hatchlings as they are smaller and more fragile than those from Asia, Africa and Sth America.
I prefer not to probe carpets until they are 4 mths + and even then you have to be extremely careful and it is not 100% identifying females at that age.
