i just want to know what Colubrids and Elapids u can have on a recrational licence

Sorry, that seemed a bit abrupt...

None:D

I thought Boiga irregularis were allowed on a rec license and they're a colubrid? Also Dendrelaphis punctulata???

I've got Boiga irregularis on my Rec licence and I've been checked out by the EPA.

That's interesting, I'd like one of them, I have found it depends who you talk to at epa and that individual's interpretation to the guidelines. I have have instances where i was told one thing from one officer and completely different from someone else..... Your best bet would be to ring them and ask and make sure you get the name of the person you spoke to and record it somewhere, cause passing the buck is common these days.....lol

I've got it signed in my book that they were checked and there was no problems.

Might be worth a phone call then ccause i love them, thanks magpie,

In qld you can keep anything that isnt considered dangerous, thats all colubrids and most elapids, the only thing is not many ppl keep elapids that arnt dangerous for some reason :(

What state do you lkive in zeke?

Ok just rang EPA and they said no way, so Magpie not sure of your individual circumstance but she (Hazel) said nope, just another example of EPA and their douple, oops, triple standards...LOL

Magpie, do u have a specialist rec licence or just a rec licence?

More like an example of their complete incompetence.

Well Hazel would be wrong... If you check out your rec license it says under restricted reptiles (G1) A maximum of 2 restricted reptiles, other than reptiles of the families elapidae, hydrophiidae or laticaudidae, may be kept under this license. So even if they want to say that colubrids are restricted, you're still allowed to keep two.. Having said that, I can't actually remember anywhere where it says they're restricted in the first place...

Maybe someone elso could give them a call also, cause that's two diff officers that have told me this also - only pythons on rec licence, that is.....

I was under the impression that the restricteds are the gtps and womas

Yeah they are some of the restricted species but there are more, i wonder if they even know what colubrids and elapids are?

Well you're not alone Magpie, I know of several people with Boiga on rec licenses... I have always been under the impression that they were ok on a rec. I would suggest that the person on the other end is hearing Elapidae and freaking out...
