Usage of real names?

Why don't folks post therirnames to their posts? It makes me wonder who would say what if their real name were known. On some forums, this is a requirement.
I notice on this site that practically no one ever signs their posts with a nickname, let alone their real name.

Just a thought.

For me, I just figure it's already up there with my avatar, so why sign it at the bottom? Plus I'm lazy.. I don't mind people knowing my real name.. just don't think it's all that necessary

I think it is a privacy thing for a lot of people - not sure if I want everyone up here knowing my full name and being able to track me down...

some forums have name displayed under member details on each post.... is there an option to add this. wouldnt bother me at all.
