Been wanting to build a bit of a hide and some climbing areas for my enclosure for a while now. I would use sticks etc but it's a bit hard to find the right thing when you don't live in a rural area so I'll just be making it. First I'd like to know what kind of wood to use, and I realise this is a commonly asked question but what kind of sealant to use around the cracks and edges? It'll be used for a hide most likely so it needs to be able to stand a fair bit of wee and stuff. Thanks in advance :D

I made a hide out of a wooden (acacia wood) bowl , turned upside with a section cut away for the snake (Batman) to get in. Not the best pics but you get the idea. The bowl was about $3 from Target, and is only small, but you can get them up to a decent size so could easily do the same thing for a much larger snake.
