The people that hold such courses will love this thread....Maybe a few other people will jump on the band wagon and offer other basic husbandry courses;)

Thanks for the plug :)

We have one coming up in February actually...and you can bring your kids for free! It's definitely affordable at $90 per adult, and you'll get a professionally bound booklet, as much lunch as you can eat and plenty of opportunities to ask questions and have a play with some snakes.

Does anyone know if there any courses like Jonno's ERD ones in victoria?

Guys – All a compulsory reptile keepers course would do is
Create more red tape to owning a pet reptile (Snake)
Further marginalize the keeping of scaly pets – more people will opt to keeping fury animals
Create a bigger market for reptiles without red tap (Read exotic corn snakes)

And as it was pointed out who would say is in the course? I could name a few people who would be interested in giving the course – but am band from mentioning their name on this forum.

I personally am for removing restrictions on more of the popular Australian animals such as some pythons and lizards.

A theory course on the other hand with a handbook might be a better approach. This will reduce people from breaking the law (like feeding live rodents, releasing their unwanted pets into the wild.
