I doubt it would have been the water, as you and any one else who drank it would be ill too.

I would like to bring up the comment on the soaking to help with the sedding - there have been comments saying its okay and the vet said to do it, but what I would like to know(as my boy with his last two sheds has had problems) is why use a product when soaking them in warm water or placing them in a wet pillow case then letting them slide through a towel works?

Also this could have been solved easy if the animal in question had been taken for an autopsy, which is now not possible - really everyone is clutching at straws cause we would not be able to know what caused it

Gees hay that's got to sux sorry for your loss

So what did JosonL have to say that couldn't be posted on here

Lewy

He just wanted to know more details about the snake, like when it eats and doesnt eat and temperatures.

I realy sorry for your loss!!!
I know how you feel. I recently brought a little townsville and it died 3 weeks later. It actualy sounds like the same problem as she had a dark belly aswell. I wouldn't have been the water. I did nothing wrond and she just died. The pet shop i got her from refused to give me a refund and said it was my fault when they didn't even see the snake and there feed chart said she was only getting fed a pinky once a month. She was around the same age as yours but was very small for her age. She just got a dark belly and died half an hour later.

I would like to know where you got him from and who bred him as i have heard of this happening to a few young snakes lately.

BE CAREFUL WERE YOU BUY FROM!!! I WILL NEVER BUY FROM A PET SHOP NOW!!!

regards
laura

Im so sorry for your loss, I can only imagine how you are feeling... Hopefully this doesnt put you off getting another snake. I understand that you dont want to did up the grave now, let the poor fella RIP.

I highly doubt it was the water he was drinking. But if it makes you feel any better. I'm sure it was ;)

I doubt it was the chemicals as most shed assisting soaks and sprays are basically diluted aloe vera, which isn't the harshest of things.

It hasnt put me off at all. My theory is that everything happens for a reason, so now my partner and I have decided that we will get a Brisbane Python hatchy.

Now we just need to find a quality breeder close by. :D

OMG so sorry to hear that. I have just recently given my coastals F10 nebulisers for RI. If herpashed is to blame why are they still selling it.
All the nay sayers just learn form this and be aware of dark spots on your snakes belly.
Again so sorry for your loss.:cry::cry:

Bianca - It's good to hear that you have not been put off by this experience...

As much as others seem to have taken offence to JasonL giving his advice (which I will quite happily state that I would take over anyone else who has posted in this thread thus far) I would definately recommend taking it on board...

...as has been pointed out, luke warm water will assist with shedding perfectly fine, it is unnecessary to risk any adverse reactions with additional chemicals...

...as for a consistent failure to shed cleanly, this is generally caused by a snake in ill health or humidity being far too low when it comes time to shed. In the future I would ensure that humidity was raised a little (move the water bowl closer to the warm end) come shed time in order to rule out a husbandry issue...

...also, I am unsure which Vet you went to, however, ensure that your Vet is a specialised Reptile Vet as others certainly aren't nearly as proficient when it comes to helping out your snake...

Good luck in the future...

I'm going to sound nasty when I say this but I don't mean too:

Animals die. It's a fact of life. Yes it's a shame, but cheer up, go to the vet if you want to find out why...learn from this experience, and move on. :)

Awww  fair enough,Really sorry to hear about your loss.It must be hard,They become great companions of ours and when they pass away its really heart breaking.
