Need Help On Making Incubator!!!!!

Hey Guys,Was wondering whether you can build your own incubator and what are the costs? Every one I've seen are like $300. I would realy appreciate any help because I think my Pygmys may be laying soon.CheersAaron

Bar Fridge off ebay $60. Heat cord $25. Good Habistat or microclimate pulse proportional thermostat for stable temps $150. and you're done. A nice finishing touch is a thermometer with a probe, bu the pulse thermostat will be reliable enough not to need it for anything other than interests sake.

If you go into the Hints part of this forum, there is a thread about making your own incubator from those foam fish boxes and some other supplies. The Thread is made from Nephrurus.

Every one I've seen are like $300.

Although you can use the cheapie thermostats, you'll find most people use decent pulse thermostats, which will cost about $150 or so by themselves. Add the heatcord, thermometer, bar fridge and the stuffing around - you can see a $300 ready to go incubator isn't a bad option.

As a matter of fact I have one ready to go for $275 in the for sale section (shameless plug!) :lol:

Im also reading up on incubators (mainly for curiosity) but ive also read posts on here recently about using eskys as a cheap alternative.There is an interesting link on the U.R.S. website on making incubators,might be worth a read as there is a step by step breakdown that i think you will find helpful

how many eggs do pygmys lay? just so i know how big to make this thing.

Could be anything from 1 to 30. The few clutches my different pairs have had were between 5 and 9. Remember they can multiple clutch though so you may need room for more than 1 clutch.

I have one pair that are 13 mnths old. How many eggs should I expect from them and from what times?
