Here are some pics.

I was just wondering because of all the reflections and shininess - is it possible to ruin my snakes eyes or anything along those lines?

I use 2x 40W blue and red party lights.

I bought a ReptaNightGlow - 40W the other day.
I was thinking of taking out both the party lights and just replacing it with the night glow - as my cage usually heats up real fast (in fact the vet suggested just a 50W or 2 25Ws)
so if i do that then the cage will no be as bright - meaning the reflections etc not too vivid.

I would be more concerned with the substrate you are using ....and that poor snake must feel like 'disco stu ...":shock:

your enclosure is quite unusual it does not really look a natural place to be, so i feel just watch and observe to see how he/she is coping in its supa shiny enviroment

whats with all the flashyness?
why not provide more of a 'natural' looking environment for the animal to enjoy? just my opinion however the choice is yours

im using repti-bark and just normal stones :/

the only difference is the walls.

he seems happy.
active.
eating.

I did it because it would look different.

I used to have wood and trees and all sorts of things in like that..
but the vet said it would be better to take all that stuff out so he can move around.
so i did and it looked extremeally boring.. ((spesh. for him))

so i used contact.

he hasn't seemed to show any signs of change since today.
but im going to keep an eye on him.

i appreciate the people you didnt just .. yell at me for doing it.

i would really aprpeciate some helpful opinions.

like considering the walls aren't excatly natural.. ((not sure just plain white was too :/
do you think its an idea to maybe take him out once a day and let him explore outside or something?

A few people told me contact was ok to use...
i would just like second opinions rather then getting bashed' :(

construction critizism is good - not just the plain stuff :(

The pupil of a snakes eye opens and closes depending on how much light it wants to let in.

I personally would never keep a snake in that enclosure. I would also change the globe to a normal reflector globe from a supermarket or Bunnings. I think your snake would like to distinguish between night and day.

i got those globes from bunnings.
its also the same ones the reptile place i got him from were selling.

i have a ReptaNightGlow globe that i have yet to use.
I was wondering if it would be better to use one of those instead of both the party lights to it is less light when the lights turn on.

my only concern was that it would be coming on more often..so really..there would be no real distinguish between night and day.. apart for the extra light let in during the day and darkness at night :?

What sort of music is playing in there, imo i would change to a normal bulb.

personly i use blue party lights there cheap and do the job the enclosure has a big window in it thats how they tell the diff between day and night

Wow, that's certainly a different look for an enclosure.

Not sure I'd go that far myself, but it's certainly a refreshing change from the depressing 'soviet-style-white-melamine-waterbowl-hide-and-newspaper-substrate' look. If you want to keep it like that, then I suggest you do and simply monitor your snake to make sure he's not stressed by it. I'm not sure how much of anything the different pythons can see, so it might be confusing him, or he might not even be able to see much beyond light and dark.

I do tend to prefer a more natural looking environment personally, but then again, I suppose it's a little on the demented side to try to create a natural-looking environment for them seeing as they are so very far from anything they would consider natural now.

perhaps it might be an idea to use one blue 40W party light and the 40W reptaglow.
instead of a blue AND red. (minimize reflection) ??

- well until i can hunt down a 25w party globe?
