The first time my Barrie did it......I went into shock too...lol. I didn't know they did it, now I really enjoy watching him. I've been told it's really something to do with them realigning their jaws, and not a proper yawn as we understand it at all. lol. I mean......his head just splits in two....and he's got such a cute little head...lol. I love watching everything he does, he always makes me laugh......I'm sure he's just being a "snake" but not having had one before (I've had him about 7 weeks) everything he does totally fascinates me. I love him more every day. Barrie is a 1yr old stimmie

Must say I can't remember seeing my Antaresia yawn but my Morelia do it all the time, esp after a feed. Congrats on the snake Annie, sounds like you have the bug good.

Oh yes, I've had the "disease" for..... 30 yrs....that's when I first fell in love with snakes in the Sydney Blue Mountains, saw a red bellied black snake go across a road and had never seen anything so magnificent in my life. So the years passed, life happened and of course here in WA it's only been legal to have snakes since about 2003, so this year....on my 58th birthday....I decided I could wait no more, so applied for my license and a month later on March...20th, Barrie arrived. He turned 1 yr on March 28th and I had a little birthday party for him. Cake with lolly snakes as decoration and all, my girlfriend even came to the house to celebrate. Am I crazy....mmmmm, YEP...and proud of it. :)

PS....I'm "sort of" a South Australian too...was born in Mt. Gambier. :)

Here's a couple for ya.

Got a shot of our boy doing it as he re-aligned his jaws after a feed, but it's on the external hard-drive, and it's not set up at the moment, will post it as soon as I get the drive set up.

LOL  at Annie, hello I didn't realise that was you. How cute having a birthday party for him. That is really cute.

Another reason you would see them yawn a lot is when they are starting a shed. I have seen mine yawn a lot to try and start the shed happening. On my olives you see their face crack - or it looks it when the skin on their face starts to lift their head just looks crazy cracked.

Mad is good:D
They tell me it is a notifiable disease but I don't care:D:D:D
Poor WA lot, I thought we had it hard in SA, mind you getting permits is dead easy--unless it is a specialist permit. Getting a gun is far easier I am sure. Can't wait to get some RBB's when I do convince the authorities to let me upgrade my permit. I have family at the Mount and in WA:D

Queensland may get floods, Victoria may get fires, but NSW has the worst of all....politicians!
