Injured or recently deceased python required for jaw transplant.

Our male 3-4 year old jungle python needs a replacement jaw, from SA preferable.

This could be an Australian first operation. If anyone has any information or can point us in the right direction it would be appreciated.

whoa. never heard of this before.

will it need another jungle of around the same ages' jaw?

Forums are a good start but i'd also get in contact with as many reptile vets & herp societies as possible to get the word out. Good luck

I can pinch my Grandpa's falsies for ya if that'll help......

Seriously though, good luck.

We're aware that the outlook isn't good, but its worth a try. I love him. The vet has told us that his chances aren't good, but if we could find a python- one whose around the same size or larger (it doesn't have to be a jungle), there is a chance. Luckily the vet is a bone specialist and has experience with this sort of thing- just not on snakes.

All i can do is look for a donor and hope that the vet can work some magic.

..why not just pin it? I suppose it could be completely shattered.. Can't believe they would even attempt that. Good luck, keep us updated if you're serious

Are they transplanting the bone or other structures as well? And do they plan on doing any histocompatibility matching? Sounds a little far fetched, but good luck.

i think if i cost 300 to give my cat a shot and get he's foot cleaned and stitched up then i wonder how much this would cost? hundreds ? thousands?
Wind up?
well if not goodluck you will need it

What about rejection, this can't be for real, the snake would have to be on anti-rejection drugs for ever.

yeah we originally we thought that we might be able to pin it but its too serious. Its his only hope.

look in her album pictures, theres a jungle with a jaw problem... and if you google the vets name he is a bone marrow specialist.... maybe people should reframe from jumping the gun a little

how hard would it be to get a jaw to fit another snake tho? wouldnt it have to be practically the exact size of the current jaw?
