i am currently seeting up y new enclosure for my proserpine carpet python. just wondering do i need to have a cage around the light. it is a 60 watt red reflector light. what are the risks if i dont cover it.

Yes, you need a cage. Without one you (your snake) risk burns from contact with the hot globe and cuts if the snake constricts and breaks the globe. A light cage is much cheaper than a vet visit.

thanks, its not money, my snakes health comes first, just the way im putting the lights on makes it hard to put a cage on.
