Well i have just completed year 11 and going through to year 12, but i dont know what i really want to do when i leave. At the moment i am doing a school based apprenticeship as a Chef but to be honest i can not see myself doing this when i leave school.

So i am asking you all what jobs you do just so i can get a good idea what is out there.

So please post your jobs and if you like them or not

Cheers.
Cal:D

well im studying to be a zoologist and i kill dolphins part time (make plastic bags)

if i was you i would travel to iraq and join the rebellion and be a terroist and get a free ak47 :)

I work in entertainment as a lighting tech. i work junk hours, but i have worked on raves, television, rock and roll, theatre and festivals. Sometimes i get flown interstate and internationally to do my job, and i love it. i couldn't imagine doing anything else.

Get into IT
U can get trainee ships or u could get a diploma in networking at TAFE in 30 months
while working part time
Its got the highest employment rate out of any industry
With a diploma u can get a job paying 35-70k a year as a fresh grad, and ur pay will increase with ur experience

i'm in the same boat as you snake boy. just finished yr 11 and have no clue what to do. i'm working full time on my holidays building playgrounds. but its mainly physical labour and i dont realy want a job like that in future.

When i finish school, i would like to be an aqua culturing scientist/technician or possibly do an apprenticeship in picture framing....
good luck anyways

Currently Dental Assistant to an Orthodontic specialist.
I am thinking about Pathology a lot though. Will either go down the Pathologist route or Dental hygienist route.

Hi,

In my opinion if you don't have plans yet get yourself an apprenticeship. That way you have up to 4 years to think about what you want to do plus you end up with a trade to back you up. I began working for Woolworths in year 11 on checkouts but was quickly moved to other departments. I worked in all departments until i landed myself a part time contract in meat unit. I worked 3 afternoons a week basically washing up, cleaning etc. and on weekends i got to help with packing etc. When I finished my HSC i walked straight into an Apprenticeship I was offered, as an Apprentice Butcher some people think this not the best job out there but its a form of income and a secure job. One year on and I have been offered a position as second in charge of the department. So I am 18 years old, a second year apprentice and earning $800-$900 a week not bad for my age. Now this has given me time to think plus earn money and save for my other courses, which is better than going into a mad rush at the end of year 12 worrying about what "I want to be".

Hope this helps.

well im doing my a Chef apprenticeship. do you all think i should just stick with it? being a second or third year apprentice would be a good job if i decided to go through uni. but i dont know if i want to go to uni, im over the studying side of things as it is.

im a sparky, my advice would be do a trade, its done me justice

i didnt like the idea of uni etc so i bailed on school in yr 11 and got my apprenticeship as a sparky, i do industrial automation tho and a bit of commercial stuff, i didnt like the idea of doing houses etc n dusty roof spaces, plus automation is heaps more interesting doing conveyor systems, robots etc. im now 21 and fully qualified on about 55k a year

cabinet maker......one of the lowest paid building trades, but you can easily make your own enclosures at work  if you have a hundred snakes, think of the money you will save on housing them :|

When i left school i went into retail full time. was ok for a while but i got sick of the pay and not moving anywhere in the company. so now i work for Hanson Concrete in the call center allocating the truck in Adelaide/Perth from Brisbane. there is plenty of room for me to move in the company if i get bored of an office job. i still dont know what i want to do in the end.

just finished year 10. decided I won't be going back, I hate school, fail at school, so its not gonna benifet me as I won'y get a UAI (ATAR) I wanted to join the army, but due to mental health problems, I don't like my chances. so its either something like chef, butcher or some other thing that I can get aprentiship in that might be ok. I just want to earn enough money to live off and be able to go herping. more would be better though ;)

oh and I am a part time burger technition at Mcdonalds

Hi it is a very good idea to finish year 12 i know when i was unemployed that factor came into getting a job a lot i only went to teh end of grade 11 and quit early to go to TAFE thinking i waned to be a hairdresser. I did love doing it at he time but the way it all ended badly at the time i look back now and i do not know wha i was thinking.
I have now joined my family company which o have one of our sores there in yeppoon Earle's Paint Place we have 10 stores all up there i do sales assisstant in store and colour designing (means telling people wha colour o paint there houss and quoing on how much they need)
This job i really love been there 4 and a half years and plan o be there unil i retire.
You need o find what you truly love but do not be afraid to take chances i hought i would hate working for my family but i was wrong and i am now proud to be the 4th generation working in the company

Start a baby factory!
Just need a girl, get her pregnant and wait for the Governemnt Welfare dollars to start rolling in.
Its EASY!

Or

Join the Army and get paid to kill people!

Or

Go on a travelling/working holiday around Australia...plenty of odd jobs, fruit picking, labouring, mines, builders offsiders, jackaroo. Surprising how easy it is to do this and how it will open your mind to future job possibilities.

Or

Never decide on a career and just let life bump you along till you die. I wonder what the view from your death bed would be about that....?
